How to Get Started on the Web
To sell your products, services or promote your business or organization, the following steps are used in all cases. Most service based businesses can increase their customer base for a very small fraction of the cost of a typical yellow page ad. Just think of the many businesses now using the internet to promote their sales and to get known.
If you are a pro at the internet, then you won’t need to read this, you have "been there" and "done that" already, but if you are new or expanding into the ever growing web market place, then this information serves as a check list of what you need to get started in the right direction. Here is a brief guide:
STEP 1. DOMAIN NAME: First and foremost, you need a domain name. A domain name is your welcoming door mat to your online business. If you don’t have a merchant account to accept charge cards, you can set up a free PayPal account. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. You can use PayPal with FrontPage. If you want to use a shopping cart, just insert the hyperlink to send your clients to the shopping cart to see your line of products/services. Set up your cart to accept PayPal, or insert the hyperlink into your web site. Many people prefer using PayPal since their credit card number is never known to the the vendor. The disadvantage is that payment to you normally takes a few days longer than a direct gateway.
Step 5. SEARCH ENGINES: Once your web site is up-loaded, you need people to know where you are and how to find you! Our traffic builder is great in doing that.
